Acknowledgement of Country

DHS acknowledges Aboriginal people as having the longest living culture in history, and are the custodians of the land where we work, raise families, and build communities across South Australia. We acknowledge the ongoing spiritual connection of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to country, land, waters, family, and community. We pay tribute to all cultural knowledge and wisdoms from all nation groups across our state.

We pay our respect to Elders past and present, and recognise emerging leaders who play an important part in keeping traditional protocols alive, and recognising children as our future. We aim to continue to work together in partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, to promote self-determination, choice, and healing, and to empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as decision makers in their own lives, wellbeing, and parenting.
